Personal Assets: At the peak of his political career Nelson estimated his personal wealth to be $218 million. That’s the same as a touch more than $1.1 billion in today’s dollars. He also disclosed that over his lifetime he had paid $69 million in taxes, roughly $350 million in today’s dollars.
